Ford Industrial Yellow

I have a Ford 4410 that I am restoring back to the original colors. I believe the tractor is supposed to be blue with yellow sheet metal, similar to a 4400. I've posted pictures of what I think it should be.

My question is, where do I find the yellow paint. The New Holland Dealer no longer carries it and I'm not sure if this very light yellow is the same as the Tisco paint listed in the paint codes. Does anyone have a Dupont code that matches so I can purchase the paint locally? The New Holland yellow is way too dark.

I'm starting to wonder if I have the ony 4410 in existance. The tractor is also called a "Woods" model in the New Holland Parts finder. I wonder why?? Any advice woud be appreciated.

Thanks,

Steve

Steve,

JF in CT had the yellow color matched and came up with PPG code 82520A San Morino Yellow. I hope he doesn't mind I'm attaching a picture of his before & after.

It looks very close to me. You should be able to cross this to a Dupont code.

I have a 4400 that I'm slowly refurbishing.

Actually I'm flattered. Correct on the yellow. The blue had no match and they had to mix it off of an unfaded (under the battery box) sample.

Is pre 1965 yello the same as post? All of the posts I've read for Buff are pre-1965. My tractor is a 1970. I should have said that earlier.

Steve,

In the pictures I've seen of buff on the pre-65 tractors it has more of a beige tint. Here's a freshly painted '61 4000 industrial painted red & buff from the photo archives.

The owner didn't post paint code but I think it definitely has more of a beige tint than the '65 and after yellow. I've seen the PPG code for buff listed as 81339 mango gold. But since yours is a '70 model it was more likely closer to the yellower (is that a word?)82520A code. I believe Ford went to a darker yellow later on in the seventies and did away with the blue chassis.

If you really want to be confused look for a link to Rod(NH) PPG codes in the archives. In the Ford section it lists four different codes for buff and four more codes for yellow. Kinda makes you want to find a part of the tractor that your 99% sure never got repainted and take in and have it color matched which is what a lot of people do. Hey if you do let us know what code you come up with.

Rick from NC, Do you know where JF in CT got his decals? I,m looking for some for my 3500 without any luck. Those look a lot like the ones on my tractor.

I don't know where he got his decals maybe he will post that info. They are not listed on New Holland parts as "No Longer Serviced" so they maybe still available. Have you tried a dealer? Here are the part numbers:

C7NN8N000A DECAL Decal, Identification "FORD", Engine Hoods, 2120, 3120, 3400, 3500, 4400, 4500, Start Year: 01/01/1965

C7NN16N650D DECAL Decal, Identification, "3500", Radiator Shell Front, Replaces C5NN16N650S, 3500, Start Year: 01/01/1965

On the NH site for the 3500 it says "no artwork", so I figured they no longer had them. I'll call the dealer and find out. So far I've only checked after market sources. Thanks for the information. Lightning just knocked out my power, so I'm using the battery on my laptop right now. Brings back memories of IKE. At least we are getting rain. :D

JF,
That's a nice-looking rig. From the photo of the before, it looks like springtime. The after photo might be late fall. You work fast!

Thanks for the help guys. The search of "buff" didn't yield any new answers. Rick is right on the money with the PPG 81339 mango gold color being more of a beige than what was originally on the tractor. The Mango Gold may have been closer to the earier "pre" 65 models.

I decided to go with the San Marino yellow, which was pretty close. Like Rick said, the stock color is slightly "yellower" (If it's not a word it should be)

Intresting enough, the San Marino yellow is cross referenced to a Dupont 45752A, which is called cream and is a 1979 Chrysler color.

The paint dealer did list several "Buff" ford colors in their book, which seemed way too beige to my yellow color.

I will post pictures after I shoot the color.

Thanks again!!

Hello

Just a side note:

Rustoleum has the Ford Blue, but not the Yellow.
COLOR: 7424830 - Ford Blue

Though they only have Caterpillar and John Deere Yellow.
