i have a 1937 ford 1-1/2 ton with a 4-speed what year did ford make a trans that would fit the flat head that you would not have to double clutch and would it bolt in to the 37 thanks

I think 54 was the first year, but its a different trans than your 37, it will work though if you use the ford adaptor from the 48-53 truck, bolts to the engine with 8 bolts just like your trans, but excepts the 4 bolt trans. But does your 37 have a closed or open drive line?

thanks for the info it is a closed drive line, duel wheel rear would the 54 trans be for a 1-1/2 ton or any ford truck trans would fit i am not sure if a trans from 1/2 ton would work different gear ratio
thanks agian frank

Beginning in '48 the F6s with the 254 ci six had a 4 spd with synchro'd gears. You need the trans and the half-bell to mate to your '37 engine.
