Fordson Super Dexta Purchase

I picked up a really sraight Super Dexta Diesel from an estate sale yesterday. I've never owned or even seen one of these before so I bought it, very different looking tractor. Can someone fill me in on where these tractors were made, I can't find much data on it. Thanks everyone!

My dad bought one brand new in 1963, . It is still a great workhorse.These tractors seem to be able to handle any job.the perkins 3 cyl is a great engine.this is the first tractor I ever drove as a kid. 39 years later it is still working on the farm.Power is unbelievable for a tractor of this size. The only thing it lacks is power steering. One of my all time favorites.You bought a good'un.

I believe the Dexta was originally built from about 1958 until the end of the Super Dexta series in 1964.
I have never driven one, but heard they run very economically, which of course the Major diesels were also famous for.

Well done, you've got yourself a great little workhorse - a classic from the sixties still in use on many small livestock farms here in the UK. My 1961 model, the predecessor to the "Super" version, is the tractor I can use all year round no matter how muddy the fields. It has a light footprint and you can go just about anywhere without causing damage to the ground. Get yourself a transport box for the 3 point hitch and it will be a very handy outfit.

Shop manual has one on front cover with a back hoe.

I was @ the local Massey dealer a couple weeks back. He was telling me the Dexta was the most fuel efficient tractor built for several years. I really like mine. Don"t ever use ether to assist starting!
