Forney Welder

Does anyone know where to get the ends for the welding and ground lead. I bought an old forney welder and don"t have leads. I can make leads if I can fine the leads

You should be able to pick those up at any welding supplier. I have seen them on the shelf at Lowe's and Home Depot. You can order on line from Northern Tool also.

Forney is still around, and many farm supply stores (around here, at least), carry an assortment of their stuff, including some welding cable plugs.

Around here the Ace Hardware and Carquest auto parts houses are Forney dealers you, might try them.

As said below, just go to a welding supplier and ask for Forney Terminal ends.

Thanks for the reply"s. but I"ve talked to several welding shops in different towns. They don"t make these anymore and all of them say they don"t know where to get them. I was wondering if anyone knew of a company that might have some old old parts around.

Hi SLW,

The brass plugs like you're looking for for one of my welders taper from .365" to .385" over a length of about 1.5". One of the Tweco quick-connect male ends I have measures .63", is solid brass, and is split down the middle to tighten the fit by compression. Tweco, Lenco, Lincoln, and countless no-name companies produce these plugs in different sizes. It would be relatively easy to buy the closest size larger than what you need and file it to size. The opposite end is already configured to attach to a cable.

You could do essentially the same thing by starting with a piece of copper pipe, or a brass plumbing nipple and then soldering or figuring out a way to swage in onto your cable after you had gotten the required length of it to the right diameter.

I called the factory in Colorado and they told me where to buy them. As it turns out they are still available, and I bought some from of all places and automotive store, but it had to be one the supplier delivers them to. They told me Atwoods handled them, but I didn't even check there
