Found my dream machine

Hey guys, I've been on here for a long time but never posted much cause I didn't have a N tractor.
Found a really nice (not pretty) 8N serial # 185134 in Holly Lake, Texas, about 30 miles from Canton. When I got there it wouldn't start but I have read enough of your posts to figure it out but did not tell him that. The guy was really upset about it and then the offers started. I wound up with the tractor, 5ft mower and a 5ft scraper blade for $600.00. Brought it home, changed the carbon plug wires, put in 437 plugs, set the points and replaced the non-existant ignition switch. Changed all the filters and fluids then the magic started!!! It roared to life. It also had a new carb and shut off on it.
Sorry this is so long but I am SO proud of this thing I can't stand it. I am 70 years old and this is my first N since I was a kid (about 24) after I got back from Viet Nam. As close as I can tell by the FO4 book this is a 49 model, is that right? The only other #'s are on the trans (4Speed) D2691 and the rear trumpet D2192.
I need a steering wheel tho, all that's there is the metal part,no plastic on it at all.
Thanks guys for all the help you have given me from reading about your tractors and fixes you have done, I'll put some pic's up later this week.

Doesn't anyone feel bad about taking advantage of someone who isn't up on tractors or trucks?
Do you really feel good on sunday sitting in the front pew knowing you did this to someone? You're the one who has to live with it though, not me.

[b:d2feda4756]I sit in front at church probably more that you ever have. I don't feel like I took any kind of advantage of the man, HE was the one that made me the offer. If someone wanted to give you something you needed at a price you could afford, would you turn it down,I don't think you would Mr. Saint![/b:d2feda4756][/size:d2feda4756][/color:d2feda4756] After all this time on this forum I have never encountered very many people that have anything except the best attitudes and always extremely helpful but you sir are an exception.[/size:d2feda4756]

looks to me like the price was offered and taken.

i buy things like that all the time.

why give car lot prices when you can buy it for what it is offered for.
