I Recently bought this part at a auction. I originaly thought it was for a old Fox Chopper but it says Fox River Tractor company on it. I looked it up in Wendel"s book and There was a Fox tractor but only a handfull of them were made. Could this part be from one of those tractors?

Wendels Ency also says Fox became leader in ensilage harvesters when tractor business failed, and became Div of Koehring as of 1988 pub date...
I wouldn't know an ensilage cutter if it ran me over, so don't know if part is applicable...

I should've ran smokstak first, I wouldn't've sounded so dumb--I just didn't equate "chopper" with "ensilage harverster".

It is the cover for the cylinder that holds the knives on a "FOX" feed cutter or "silo filler". They were made in Appleton, WI and the company did make a few early gas engine tractors. They were one of the first to make a self propelled forage harvester and went out of business about 20 years ago. The factory is still there.
