Front tractor tires

I'm working on a Ford 3000 diesel tractor. As fate would have it I was working on one thing when I went out to check something on the tractor I noticed it had a flat tire. I've bought two different tires and both of them are pure junk.
The tractor has 5.50X16 tires on it and the two I have bought has the same size marked on them but they are nowhere near as wide as the ones on the tractor. It's a three-rib tire and looking at the ones I bought the two outside ribs are about a third of what the old ones are. I won't be going back to Argri-supply or Tractor supply for tires ever again.
Where do you find decent tires for tractors anymore? The last tire I got from Tractor supply lasted almost a year before it started to dry rot and I bought two trailer tires from Argri-supply and they were both so thin that a small rock in my driveway went right on through about the third time I used the trailer. I did have a load on it but nowhere near what I have had on it before. The problem is now there is nothing made in the US anymore and it seems like everything is made in china and when you order something on line you never know what you will get. then it's too late because the shipping is sometime more than what you bought is.
I got in my truck one day last week and drove over 85 miles checking every place that might have a tire but nobody stocks anything anymore. I got so tired of hearing, oh, we don't have them in stock but we can get one in about two weeks I just went to the beer store and bought a 6 pac and went home and sit on the porch the rest of the evening. I still have a tractor with a flat tire blocking my driveway.
I did notice the store on this site shows them in parts but I'm wondering what I'll get when they show up.

I have about 200 tires on my farm... and
ive found that most of the time, U.S. made
tires will outlast Chinese or Indian tires
by a big enough margin to justify the
higher price. I've had good luck with
Carlisle wagon and front tractor tires. My
local tire shop can normally get what I
need in 2 days, if they don't stock it.
If your local shop doesn't stock what you
need, and they're telling you it will be a
week or more to get it, try Amazon or
eBay.

On a 3000 I would upsize to 6:00-16 or 6:50-16

Got these of Amazon 2 years ago and mounted them on my Jubilee. Very satisfied with them. They have gone up a lot in price since I bought mine.

Thanks..........I just looked on Amazon and found a Carlisle 6.00-16 for $88.00. I was reading some of the reviews and about 1/2 the people that gave a review said they had made in china stamped on them. What's up with that?

I bought those Carlisle's and put them on about a month ago. So far so good, what can I say. I had new tubes put in when I mounted them. I do believe they are Made in China, but so are most of the tires you can buy.

You can use the same rims up to 6:50-16, 7:50-16 takes a wider rim

I like the look of these, I believe them to be more common/popular in Europe. Any better performance over the three rib??

I went ahead and bought 1 tire from amazon. I just went back to the same tire 5.50X16. Hopefully it will be the same size as the one that's on the tractor now. If it isn't I'll replace the other one too. $74.19 and free shipping so I guess it was worth the chance. I usually like to replace them in pairs but this tractor sit's now more than it gets used. The only thing we use it for is bush hogging the fields around the club house and keeping some of the roads clear on the property we hunt. I didn't see much reason to up-size them because the ones that are on there seem big enough. The tractor doesn't have a FEL so they should be fine, that is unless they are undersized like the other two I got.

I finally got the fuel tank off yesterday and what a pain. I know I'll have to double up on my meds before I try and re-install the new one.

I had same problem with 7.50-16 ordered from Amazon. much smaller in width and diameter. Ordered another set from Pete's tire barn. BKT's. They are same size as older tires on my 5000's. And I mounted tubeless with no problems. I've also ordered from Miller tire in the past and been pleased.

Well looking at the pics of the tire it says carlisle American Farmer but down below there is a box that said the pics displayed may not be what you get or something like that. Hopefully I'll be here when they show up and if they art not what they should be I'll just refuse to take and tell them to take them back where they came from.
I've had problems before when ordering stuff on line. You think you are ordering one thing and end up with a cheap POS chinese knockoff.

Amazon is very good about returns, but if they were actually sold and shipped by a third party seller, you should read that seller's return policy before ordering, which should be available via a link in the listing.

But were they made in the US or in china. Actually, it doesn't matter much if you end up with the same tire. The tire I got from Argri Supply said it was the same and also 8 ply but it was much smaller and the sidewalls seemed really thin. When I carried it back the guy said this wasn't the first time this tire had been bought and returned, it had been returned 7 times this year. I don't know if he was trying to make me feel better for not looking at it closer before I bought it or if he was just making conversation.
