Fuel mixture question

Does anyone run a mixture of E-85 and regular pump gas or anything for pulling? Is it possible to run E-85? Will it hurt anything? Or is it Fine?

I use a 75/25 mix eth/91 oct and ive had good luck with it. you just need to give it alot more fuel becuase it will want to run lean.

I tried some straight E-85. Put a Big Nut G carb that was "converted" to E-85 for an A. Ran good - but absolutely no bottom end - fell on it's face below 900 RPM's but I'm thinking that is just carb size mismatch. The part I struggled with was getting the mixture right. It didn't smoke like regular gas if you're rich. And if you're too lean, you'll pop a hole in the top of the piston. Several people are running 50/50 or 60/40 with good luck. If anyone can give me some pointers on this stuff, I'd appreciate it too. I do have an EGT and digital tach installed. I think it's got good potential though.

You need to have someone that knows exactly what they are doing. They will need all the info about your tractor, and then send them the Carb and it WILL run a lot better on both ends. Usually cost about $200.00 but you really need to find the right person or forget it.

B puller, you will be ok at 50-50. 50/50 mix is good for tractors with over 200, up to 300 psi of cyl pressure at testing speeds. Your right, no smoke!! Burns clean, the pump gas helps it fire, it lowers the octane of the ethanol to help dial it in. Too big of carb will hurt any engines low end torque curve. WHen the manifold frosts up under a load and warmed up your real close on the tune and fuel mixture. ChadS
