I need a fuel pump for a 18 hp liquid cool Kawasaki engine on a JD 345. JD has a price of $136 and Kawasaki has one for $24 that says it fits all the 15-25 hp motors. They not allowed to cross reference anything with JD. Does anyone know if there is a difference between a JD kawasaki and the genuine? Please help decide if to bite the bullet! Thanks

When I find out that a company overcharges for a part like that, That is the last time I ever buy their product. The JD product that fuel pump for was grossly overpriced also because that show the profit margin they want.

Thats a mechanical fuel pump.Bolts to the front of the engine.Kawasaki should supply this pump at a much better price. These pumps should be universal within the Kawasaki engines.

I took a chance andordered the $24 fuel pump/ If it does not work it was just a $14 gamble with shipping and restocking charges. Thanks for the help, I will post if it works.

The fuel pump for the 345 JD tractor is a mechanical pump, it's located on the front of the engine as installed in the chassis.  The pump that you have priced is a kit that has a new design pump and a drain hose.
The original pump had a drain hole to allow the gas to exit the pump should the diaphram fail, the hole prevented gas from going into the crankcase.  The pump is located directly above the muffler and I have seen photos of the results.
