Fuel shutoff leaking on Workmaster 641

Uncovered my Ford this morning only to find my fuel shut-off leaking. (Figures, I just put gas in the tank when I parked the tractor.)

Does anyone know if this shut-off valve be repaired (replace inside o-ring, etc) or do I need to buy a whole new valve? I'd rather not have to pull the valve if there is a better way.

Thanks in advance for sharing your experience!

It probably is the O ring between the tank and valve. This has happened to me on the last 2 that I replaced with aftermarket valves.O ring is to thin.

The screw type valve is repairable with patience, the lever type, not so much.

That said, aftermarket screw type valves are readily available and inexpensive.

It is not necessary to remove the sheetmetal and tank to replace the valve.

I was able to rebuild my screw type by drilling out the rivet that keeps you from opening it too much, and drilling / tapping and putting a screw in it. I replaced both 0 rings.

Works good now

ditto wha tthe others said.

yeah.. probably doable depending on the design.. but it's gonna make ua drain the fuel to do so, whether you repalce it or rebuild it.

Thanks all,

I will report back in after I pull the valve out. I already drained the tank but ran out of light.

Is this the usual problem with these valves? The o-ring? Mine looks like it's leaking from the screw, but it could be flowing down off of the seam between the tank and valve.

After 2 new valves from CNH, which both leaked......a friend did the drill out and o-ring replacement for me on my original valve. No more leaks at the fuel valve on my 641D. Salvage the one you have if it's an original valve.
