funny noise

I seem to have developed what sounds like a chirp coming out of the muffler on a old B. Guesses on what it is? Maybe a sticking valve,but they all seem loose,or maybe a hole in the manifold has developed.Any ideas?

Probably has a squeeky muffler bearing.

If you have a compression gauge, take the valve out of the end of the tester. Remove the pushrods, put the piston at TDC and put pressure into the cylinder.

You shouldn't get any air out the muffler or carb.

If you do, you've got a leaking valve.

Sounds like a bird took up residents in your muffler.
