Future 560 puller project

Been contimplating building a 560 for Div. III or IV. I have access to a propane 560 and possibly a diesel. I would really like to repower with something like a RD450 or 501 (if I can get my hands on something) or the newer 466. On the diesel side, making a D466 fit would be really cool and unusual for these parts. Any thoughts or comments on pros/cons of each and any major problems would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Not sure where you wanna run Div II or IV, but you would not be able to run NATPA, and I would suggest that you double check your runs where you pull as many places are attempting to outlaw motor swaps. One option would be to build it with your above motor combinations and run an open class. The 501 in the 560 is very simple swap and has been done many times. Lots of information on here, just take everything with a grain of salt. Good Luck and most importantly just have some fun!

Guess I shouldn't have stated if as Div III or IV. Pulling regs aren't that tight around here yet. It would be mostly for fun anyway, but not any diffent than the MMs with 800 engines that pull around here. I just wanna go fast and spice things up.

Pulled with a 560 with a 466 diesel this summer. It ran good, but not as good as a hot 4 cyl MM.But you could use 619 JD sleeves and pistons and stroke it a little and 650cu. There is a article in old Hook about how to do it. They let about anything pull in the mod cut tire class. as long as it doesn't have a turbo. I even saw a 840? Cummins in a Case, now it would run it was converted to Gas or something close. Also in the Hook was kits to put 501's in 460, 560's. I watched Hutson's W40 pull it is powerful, motor would be even better in a 560 longer wheel base and better gear selection.

Put a RD450 in a 560 not a big deal redrill back plate and redrill a flywheel build a front motor mount Pulls in 4 th gear lots of FUN

Where are you located, I saw a( 501) out of a truck at Kell Il. Last fall, can't remember right now his name. There is a salvage yard at Norris City Il. Johnson salvage, He has not scrapped the old trucks has 40 acres at least. I'll bet he has one.
