G allis

A friend of mine has a G allis and would like to know a little about it value and its serial #. He has a plow, cultivator, mower and a grader blade for it. It is very nice original shape, new rubbber on rear (old but never used). He has had it stored inside for years and it runs well. The serial # is G150 and he has heard that the serial # is suppose to start at G 1000. It is not for sale but he would appreciat any information on it. Jerry

The little G tractors are becoming more and more in demand and value is increasing. If the serial # you submitted is correct, it makes this tractor even more valuable to collectors due to a very low number serial# out of approx. 30,000 that were produced. It appears this is a 1948 model. Any original equipment in usable shape with the tractor also enhances the value. The serial #'s actually started with single digits and up.

around here those Ac G's are good sellers. I agree with David on the ser # so that makes it more valuable. a G with all those attachments would sell for $4000 to $5000 around here.

You have the right word when you said useable on the G equipment. I have been working all week on G equipment. First the lift lever, bent but not to bad. Next the Master tool bar, frozen trunions, 6 hours. Cultivator, attaching parts missing. Rear Furroring tool, on tractor but still not right. Mowboard plow, all bushings frozen, apparently A.C. Never heard of zerks, 8 hours and still not free. I am using PB, Torch and any other tool that I tnink would help. Russ

My Dad bought mine new. I still use it every year. Sure wish he'd gone the extra few dollars for hydraulics!

It would be a 1948. Of the approximately 30,000 produced, more than 23,000 were manufactured in 1948 &amp; 1949. Seems some of the ones made in the 1950's are harder to find.

It is my impression that Allis Chalmers kept the first 5 Model G's for production research and the first one sold to the public was G6. I purchased G112 (a basket case) a little over a year ago. It has been parted out. Glad your friends is in good running condition. Value is always a function of condition of the tractor and the condition of the impliments. An original hydraulic system also adds value.
Interestingly enough, the location of the tractor seems to affect the value. While I don't have any hard evidence to back it up, it seems to me that they seem to bring a significantly higher price in the northeast USA.
