Got the DLTX 51 big nut carb on the G. Pulled it for the first time this weekend. Runs great until it starts pulling hard. Appears to be starving for fuel. I'm sure there there is a jet drilling technique the guys in the know are using. It is .125 over with high comp pistons. Actual compression is only about 140 psi. 3/8" fuel hose feeding the "beast" and pretty sure the filter is is not a restriction. HELP !

Be sure your float level is correct. The carb nozzle can sort of "drysump" (suck too much air) if the float level is a little low or there's a restriction of the fuel flow supplying it. The "minor bore out" alone shouldn't necessitate enlarging the power jet unless you're severely over-revving the engine and it has a serious over bore like a power block would give it or stroking might because this does make it a considerably larger engine in reality. The carburetor should be "pristine clean" and no restriction in the fuel flow or air flow. My '51 G that is .090 over bored and the head shaved a little to give me 120-125 lbs. compression can still be "drowned" by the stock carb when running about 10% overspeed on the engine...about 1250 rpm no load wide open. It wisps a little black smoke when pulling hard and when you ram the throttle wide open. I confess I open the power jet needle a little more for pulling than I keep it for plowing, etc.

I agree with the above post, with the motor setup you're running, a stock jet size should be more than adequate, and should in fact be able to considerably over-fuel the motor depending on how far you've got the load needle open. Either the float is set too low, there is something plugged or restricting fuel flow somewhere inside one of the passages within the carb, or you simply need to open the load needle more.
