Garden chemicals

I have a very large garden and it's getting harder every year to keep the weeds down. Job gets in the way and years are piling up on me. What chemicals can I use on everything from potatoes to tomatoes.

I use granular Treflan works good with corn, beans, peas and all plants. Won't get nightshade been trying to find small amount of Eptam.

Don't you grow a home garden to avoid pesticides/herbicides? I googled up these garden carts that you lay/crouch on,has a headrest and leaves your arms free to weed.Self-propelled and fully adjustable, they're way out of my price range but they look buildable out of the cultch pile.

I use black plastic between rows, so I have fewer weeds to pull by hand. The black plastic also helps heat the soil, which solves another problem my area has--late, cold springs.

Occasionally, I spot spray weeds I can't get rid of by pulling, with roundup, but that is the only time I use any herbicide in the garden area. One of my reasons for gardening is to get produce to eat that does not have residues on it.

We don't have much of a problem with bugs in the garden, so I very seldom use any insecticide. When we raised potatoes, I used to need to dust the plants or we would have lots of potato bugs, but we quit raising potatoes and I haven't seen a potato bug since.
