Hello,
I called Garmin and they told me that there will be an ugrade available for the nuvi and others the first week of July. For those of you with slow web speed, this would be your option.
If you call Garmin be prepared to wait........!
They said A.M. is the best time to call?
DVD updates will run $79.99.
The SD card updates will run 89.99.
Life time updates $119.99.

Guido.

Wouldn't it be easier and maybe even cheaper to just go buy a new one, and then sell your old one on craig's list or something?

Hello RustyFarmall,
That was what i told them. I can buy a new low end unit for the price of the update!
Guido.

I have a Garmin 660 and the lifetime updates can be bought at Amazon for under $100. I think that is way too much and have been holding off but would really like an update for a coming trip. What can a guy do, they've got ya.
Amazon updates

Hoosierboy,

I don't have an iPhone and don't expect ever to have one. But don't you spend about the same amount of money every month to have your iPhone as it would cost to buy a new Garmin every month?

I have a $19.95 cell phone that I bought at WalMart a couple of years ago, and the guy that I work part-time for put me onto his group access plan. I wouldn't have the phone at all if I could avoid it.

But, like I said, I don't really know what it costs to buy an iPhone and then pay AT&T a monthly fee to access their network.

Hello Guido my friend. I like my sprint navigation and live search that comes free with my Sprint data plan on my instinct phone. They take care of the updates. Works better side by side than the Prius navigation.

Tom - sorry, didnt mean to make it about cost. I had the cheapest phone I could find for years till the kids put me in an iphone last year. I use that thing all day, theres just so many apps that work so well, the navi is just one of them. I never really liked looking at the cars screen for directions and the phone fixes that. Not selling phones, plenty of smart phones and plans to pick from I just didnt realize what I was missing.

Hello bc my friend,
My phone is getting old, next time i'll have to check the nav. systems that can be used with the cell. I'll pass the old one on to charity.
Guido.

(quoted from post at 19:28:07 06/11/10) Even easier just get an iphone app., its $.99 with free upgrades. Ill never mess with the car bound navi. again.
ay work for a kid, but for an old geezer like me, I need the bigger screen, plus like having it up there all the time for the trip, not digging out of my pocket. Plus those data charges will kill you for cell phone if you only use it for phone otherwise.

Hello caterpillar guy,
You can still buy maps and read them.
Better yet, print your itenerary and read the directions.
The larger the print, the easyer to read!
I'll stick to my new @*%#!@ gadget for now.
Have a good day...................Guido.
