gas pipe thread sealer

Who makes a good thread sealer for the black natural gas pipe? Do you apply it to only the male threads or both the male and female ends? Thanks Bob

I take it you have never been a pipefitter or worked on plumbing systems or hydraulic systems.

The best pipe dope is the Loctite 592. Squeeze bottle that is the size of a toothpaste tube. (If you can find it)

You only put the sealant on the male threads, not the female threads and use a brush or your finger to push the sealant into the threads.
(if you dont know what you are doing you should call a plumber or a HVAC guy, messing around with natural gas line can be real dangerous)

If you can't find the Loctite 592, Rectorseal 5 works good for propane, gasoline, diesel, etc.

Note: If you use it in a water system, you'll be able taste it for about 37 years.....

Block is the product I use. Never a problem and was recomended to me by a HVAC installer. It's blue and was sold at home depot last time I checked.

I am a Master Plumber, and the old timer I served my apprenticeship under always said on gas to use both Teflon tape followed by Tru Blu dope made by Rectorseal. I still use that advice today and have never had a leak. There is another local shop been in business for years and they use the same method. Watch those import fittings. They will crack easy.
