We are now paying over a pound per litre here in Scotland which I guess is around two dollars your money. What do you guys pay meantime? Makes commuting to work and general transport very expensive.Do you think oil can get much more costly?

Big issue here as well, see past post the last week. I prepaid a couple weeks ago when the were predicting it. Some are predicting are hard time a coming. I am starting to think I am gonna research getting a digester for my chicken manure, 300 ton should mage alot of methane, which is supposed to be able to power generators to sell the electricity. Need to look into it more, I imagine it must be quite an initial investment.

$3.10 per gallon here. Word is by Christmas expect $3.50. By spring, expect $4.00. Diesel is $3.40 at the pump right now.

These prices are costing me over $3 per hour out of my paycheck each week to get to and from work. My first job didn"t pay $3 an hour.

that would be 3.78 liters per usgallon (4.5 imperial gal) so at 2 bucks a pound rate your paying close to 8 bucks a GALLON..OUCH!!!!!

According to NBC news, the wholesale price of a barrel is going up, due to uncertainty in the minds of investors. (I call that SPECULATION.) Prices were up th $3.25 earlier this week, now all the way down to $3.14. Not exactly a bargain. Noting prices of other products I need going up too.

diesel in nm is at 3.49 a gallon, i use about 350 gallons a week now if thats not enough of a rip off check this out, i have a business friend who is, well more sucessfull than me, he bought a new avalanch equipped for e 85 use, well come to find out nobody around here sells it, he was going to convert one of his gas powered pickups to propayne, but the insurance co wont cover the truck with a propayne tank in it, down in las cruces the city was selling its few cop cars that were factory ordered to run on natural gas, they were low milage and selling very cheap so he went to buy one, found out there is only one place in the whole southern nm area to fill it, and the car wont run on anything else, [ thats why they got rid of 'em] what good is alternative fuel if you cant buy any?

Dave in MN your might call Martin Machinery in Latham, Mo 660 458 7000 about your digester setup. They do this kind of operation at many farms. My company sells the heat exchangers for their systems.

Think of it this way the digital pumps can go up to 6.00 a gallon. the old analog pump could only go up to 3.00 a gallon. That is why you see digital pumps.

Each of the last two times the Fed cut the reserve interest rate, the $$/barrell went up $5. The price of oil has stayed static the last 40 years as indexed to gold. The problem we have is too many dollars going out of the country and the folks who have them can't find anything we make they want. They buy T bills, and when the return on T bills sink they sell dollars, problem will accelerate until we:
A) Stop importing more than we export
B) Become enery self sufficient
In 1970 oil was $3.50 per barrel, gold was $38/oz, now oil is $95 per barrel and gold is $830/oz; this would sorta indicate oil is at $12-15 premium. A lot of the Mexican oil is shut in due to a tropical storm.

The Federal Gov't is walking a tight rope, between interest rate, economic activity, and keeping the offshore investor satisfied.

Question of the day, which foreign nation holds more than 25% of the US national debt?

2nd question of the day, why is everyone so interested in getting to the moon? (Read LAST MAN ON THE MOON).

Why is the French economy largely unaffected by the runup in oil?

Gas went up to $3.09 per gallon today here in West TX. If this keeps up I think I can make more money by staying home. I keep wondering when wages will start to go up. The big bosses are worried most of them drive company vehicle and have a gas card.

Maybe its time for a drum or 10 of some of that Red Diesel screw the state and feds these prices are getting a little out of hand.

And with the dollar falling things will also be costing more just like the devalued dollar (Debt instrument) is affecting the price of gas and other fuels. Heating oil, Kerosene and propane will be next.

What about all us people on Social Security. We are getting a 2.4 percent raise to keep up with inflation. That means I will receive about 24 dollars a month more minus about 4 dollars more for medicare. net 20$ per month .... That means we will lose about $100 per month on gas, food medicines, . I(f you think Medicare is a bargain it costs the two of us over $500 a month for Medicare and a supplemental plus our perscriptions. Go figure!!!!!!!!!!

It will get worse before it gets better I am afraid. I have already ticked some people off by what I have to sell a rick of wood for. I have to remind them The truck uses $30 to go get it and the tractor uses $15 a day when I cut it. If I sell it for 75 a rick they think I am the crook. It is almost hardly worth my time and back to cut it anymore. That is ok, I will use it in my stove and at least I will be warm!

I agree fuel supplies are going to get tight & more expensive.
There very few oil fields that are proven but untapped.
Demand for crude oil by China & India is increasing as well as North America's demand.
There is decades of oil supply buried under most of Alberta however. It's tied up as tar mixed with sand. Environmental turmoil is extensive with the open pit mines. Too much of the tar sand production just goes back into the extraction process. A more viable source of extraction & process steam would be from nuclear.
There are massive deposits of frozen under sea hydrates but recovery is theoretical at best.
There is a century or more of energy tied up in coal in North America. Who is going to come up with the money for dozens of new mines and coal liquidation plants?
When the middle east either runs out of oil or when they cut us off. There is going to be a decade of adjustment until bio diesel, algae diesel, tar sands & coal take up the slack.

Regular unleaded $3.03 tonight, highway diesel $ 3.39, off road diesel $3.04 delivered and $3.00 at the bulk plant. Im hauling my own this winter, normally dont use over 50 gallons a week of off road so figure I'll just get them to fill the tank in the back of my truck every week when I go to town. Just wait until you see what fertilizer prices are supposed to be next year. Co-op told me to expect $350 dollar a ton potash.

The answer to your question: Yes (they are not making any more of that variety at present and lead times are a bit on the long side). Eventually it will double and after that it will double again. Real price depends on a lot of things, inflation, taxes among them. Your cost includes mainly taxes, so don't necessarily blame the seller, whoever that may be.

If you take inflation into account gasoline is no
higher here in the US than it was in the 60's.Of course now the value of the US dollar is dropping against many curriencies so it takes more dollars to import a product even if its the same price in another curriency.Just read on Moneymax that the real estate crash is hitting banks hard worldwide and the worst is yet to come.Some believe that stocks are way overvalued so stay tuned it may get interesting.I heat my home with wood,have fuel efficient
cars/trucks to drive and fuel efficient diesel tractors all paid for.The folks that are going to get crushed are those with a big house and even bigger house payment,drive a SUV or truck that gets 10MPG that ain't paid for and don't know the first thing about gardening or being self reliant.And haven't put a penny into to anything that will give a financial return becuase they have spent all their extra cash the last few years playing golf,mowing 3 acres of useless yard,taking trips,going to sporting events etc etc.

people blame the people for getting homes they cant afford well i bought my house 5 years ago i was 19 gas was $1.30 a gallon now gas is over 3 dollars a gallon who would have guessed that we get a 2.5 to 3 percent raise every year now where is this extra money to come from? i grow a garden every year i use coal and wood for heat i go to local sawmill and get there slab wood at 6$ a bundle about a cord and a half of wood in one cut it on a buzz saw got instructions on how to make my own gas not really worth it after you get all permits and such im thinking about doin it anyway screw the permits if i can go a year without gettin caught ill still be ahead thinkin about puttin up a windmill trying to get as self sufficiant as possible

Oh ya think so , Lets see here gas back in the 60's was form .159 to 20 cents a gallon ya could walk into any showroom and buy a new car that had the giddy up go to get out of it's owen shadow . They had big gas tanks in them and ya could fill it for 5 or 6 bucks you could fill your car take a girl out on a date have dinner and a movie and do it on a days take home pay . Now lets see here today it takes 35 bucks to get a shade over a 11 gallon of gas and that don't fill the tank takes over two bucks to go see a movie and to go out to dinner well depending on where ya go and what ya eat one could dump way over 60 bucks . So since i have lived in this time frame you can throw all the fancy figures ya want at me and ya know what it still does not compute on my adding machine. when a lousy pick up that never makes ya a dime cost over 40000 bucks and people are still rushen out to buy them and fuel prices at the level they are at now and on the rise , home repo.'s at a all time high lose of jobs rate SON we are in a heap of trouble .

I have been looking at the progress made by GM on the hydrogen vehicles. I like that idea since a windmill and solar panels can run a hydrogen generator to fill a tank at home while you are gone all day. Not free fuel as you have to pay for the equipment and possibly replace it once in a while but it could be one way to stick it to the Arabs and oil traders! Every home that has a roof can be a personal filling station.

Worked at a gas station in the late 60's reg was around 30 cents a gallon.Must of been 15 cents back in the 30's.My time flies.I don't go to the trashy movies that are put out these days but do go to an all you can eat place that includes steaks and roast beef cooked medium rare just like I like them with the senior discount it costs $11/head pretty reasonable I'd say.Almost make a return trip with the $35

Paid 3.15 today at a small general store.Gas at the bigger stations was 3.10 but Ive bought from the general store for 42 years and hope it dosent close..Noticed there were few cars in the parking lot of a big store where I bought my wife some birthday presents.I would spend a lot more on her but just dont have it.Fuel oil has me worried, I have the thermostat set at 60 now.

I have to agree that these prices are crippling the the ol pocket book. However, if you bring Social Security up and that it is a fixed amount (blah blah blah), at least you have it. I keep paying into it and when it comes time for me to get some $$$ from it I might get a couple of hundred a month (I am probably dreaming though) and gas will be close to 8 or 10 a gallon. I do have about 40 years before I start drawing, but you get the idea.

Increases in oil prices have stolen 200.00 from my check.You havent seen old age and a fixed income yet.Town taxes take 4 of my checks,fuel oil takes 4 more.There is plenty of age discrimination going on when it come to finding a job.6300 families have applied for heat assistance in one county here.
