Gas tank fire - almost!

I let my 640 cool down for 15 to 20 minutes after a hard session of bush hogging. When I cracked the gas cap to check the fuel level a geyser of hot fuel shot 10 feet or more straight up out the filler hole. I'm ok, tractors ok, no fire thank goodness. I can't even find the gas cap, it was brand new, bought from the same online vendor that I bought the new tank from. Must not have been vented. I've noticed pressure being released before when I opened the cap. The location of the gas tank, sitting right over a hot engine still scares me. Heat shields are in place. In the future, that cap (vented now)stays in place until everything is stone cold.

I burnt my tractor because I ordered a none vented cap. You are very lucky check the fuel tank for high presser signs. My tank expanded like a balloon!
