That was a curve ball. Gate Guard in TX is actually guarding a gate and checking in/out oil workers and trucks.
Congratulations on your life sentence, er, marriage!
I still remember what the preacher told us in pre-marriage counseling. He looked at me and said. " a successful marriage required 100% work and dedication. Some days you might only contribute 10%, which means you wife must contribute 90% to reach that goal. Repeating that often is a sure recipe for a failed marriage." We'll be married 31 yrs Oct. 6. and I work at it daily.

Thanks for the well wishes. Ceremony and everything went perfectly. Couldn’t have asked for better weather for an outdoor wedding. My bride was all smiles the whole time so that’s what matters. The next big hurdle is getting used to having this ring on my finger. I’ve been catching myself fidgeting with it a lot.

The next big hurdle is getting used to having this ring on my finger. I’ve been catching myself fidgeting with it a lot.

The fidgeting never goes away, at least for me. I'd recommend getting a silicone thrasher ring so it will give if it gets caught on something and the original band stays nice, but it's up to you.

Just be careful when working on rotating equipment with it on.

Mine's been there for 47 years. My finger has grown around it to the point that it's more in me than on me. I'm just afraid it's going to wear through and drop off someday.

Already done. She’s been wearing a silicone ring in place of her engagement ring this whole time so she doesn’t have to worry about breaking or loosing her real one. I used my late grandads wedding band for the ceremony but I got a silicone ring to wear every day. I didn’t want anything conductive or that could potentially get crushed on my finger. If it gets to annoying I might even forego the band all together and get a ring tattooed on. I know 3 guys that have done that strictly for their own safety.

Good thinking kid. When I was real young(late 1940's), my dad drove a semi and the flatbed trailer had side-boards. He said one day a man was helping unload his trailer, grabbed a side-board and jumped off the trailer. His wedding ring caught on a nail and stripped all the flesh off the mans finger, leaving only the bones.
