Gearwrench ratchets

Anyone have any experience with Gearwrench ratchets? Was thinking about getting a few new ractchets and the guy at Fastenall suggested the ones made by Gearwrench.

I have been using the gearwrench brand ratcheting combination wrenchs daily for at least 5 years now without any problems. I can't imagine the ratchets are any different.

I'll vouch for the ratcheting wrenches as well.I especally like the flex head wrenches. Great tools! Have not tried a ratcheting socket handle myself but if they are of the same quality as the wrenches they are a good product.

Bill, Over the last yr I have been picking up Gearwrenchs from time to time at the Pawn shops around. I have been happy with them so far. Being a Craftsman tool man primarily (since 1980),,, the Warranty, and where to warranty the wrenches, Has been my issue.
Sears sell them But does not warranty them!
One of the National Auto parts stores Sells and warranties them.
I know, I know, there are some on the Boards here that Cuss Craftsman all day long. I Use and Abuse my tools all the time. I buy junky tools at Pawn shops then drive down the street to Sears and trade them in and get new ones, No Questions Asked, All the time.
Was at a garage sale the other day, bought a 21 mm Gearwrench for $3, the Auto Parts Store warranted it No Questions asked.
As I said above getting replacements for broken tools has always been my point. Hope this helps.

I have several sets of Gearwrenches. I used them heavily for the last 7-8 years before I retired. I like the stubbies, flex head and reversibles best. I do wish they made a stubby flexhead though. I wore out a couple of 9/16" and 1/2" ones but the tool truck dealer (Cornwell) replaced them with no questions. I worked on Class 8 trucks and reefer trailers so they got a hard workout.

I've got a set and are good for assembly and unscrewing. I am afraid to use it on the super tight bolts like exhaust bolts that you have to pull with all your strength or use a cheater or need to tap on with a hammer to break them loose. I don't see how the little ratchet mechanism can hold up so I still use the regular box end wrenches to start bolts.

they do make stubby flexheads i have one i use them every day for working on heaters, the ratcheting wrenches that is, and i have used them on extremely tight bolts and also have used a hammer to loosen stubborn bolts and they are all fine, they are about 4 years old, i would buy them again in a heartbeat.

I have a stubby set of gear wrenchs I bought them because i figured they would be harder to wreck than the long wrenchs they have worked well

I use a gear wrench ratchet everyday to work on aircraft. They have a nice smooth gear in them and feel pretty comfortable in the hand. Have not had a problem yet.

I don't expect them to take a beat'n,,, they are so handy I break the bolt loose first then use the handy dandy gearwrench to make life EZ'er...

EZ red has got'em beat,,, best wrench I have ever used bar none...

the wrenches work well, dont use the rachet to break tight bolts loose, use a box end. also, be very careful in a confined space. if you back a bolt out and get the wrench stuck, there is no way to reverse it and get the wrench out. you either have to cut the bolt or the wrench.

Another couple cents worth. Don't throwaway your regular wrenches and socket set. I used the gear wrenches yesterday on two things.

1. To unscrew some lag bolts up on the tv antenna on some fasia board. Because the end lays flat so it is reversible, there is no good way to hold the wrench when on a flat surface. Once I had the bolt out an inch so I could grip it good, it would slip off onto the inside of the bolt or else get cockeyed and then have to remove it and put it back on. At least I didn't drop it until the bolts were out enough to grip the wrench.

2. To tighten an alternator. Broke and loosened the arm bolt ok with the ratchet end. However because of the loader frame in the way, there wasn't enough space for the ratchet to even make one click. Had to flip flop the box end to get it. Kinda odd I thought that there was enough room to use the box end but not enough to make one click of the ratchet. Luckily it broke free with the box end without stripping. I carried another regular closed in just in case.

Then I have to deal with the over friendly cat. She likes to jump up and rub on my face and always knocks the tools and other parts off the tractor whereever I lay them. Kinda aggravating when I have small parts that I don't want to lose in the grass, mud, and snow. End of cat rant.

I have a set of hole through sockets that I"ve had for about 7 or 8 yrs. It"s been the go to set. Don"t need no deep wells with that set. I have used them hard. Did have to replace a rachet with all the abuse. Took it the local napa store no problems. Very reliable.
