Gehl skid loader dead

Brother has Gehl skid loader. I think it is model 3635 diesel. Last night while using it he stopped to answer phone and then it would not start.Booster would not start it either. Battery checks out fine. It won't crank or nothing. What would be first thing to go after?

Sounds like a safety switch. Not familiar with the Gehl but most if not all skid steers have some sort of safety switch to keep you from starting it and it taking off on it's own. Sticks centered? Is there a lever that has to be pulled up or down to start? Parking brake set?
In other words, it's probably something simple that he overlooked.

If it was a Bobcat with a Kubota motor,I might know, but not sure on that one. I just know my brothers Bobcat has an electric shutoff on the pump that won't turn on with the key 99% of the time. You have to reach in and turn the key on,open the back then flip that linkage over by hand.

First check safety switches next I would check you starter relay and check the fuel shut off solenoid to make sure it working and no broken wires on it.

Make sure battery connections and main ground and B+ cables are clean and tight. Our 1845 Case did the same thing yours is.Ended up a burnt fuse holder that killed EVERYTHING.Spliced in a new one and problem solved.Find out the locations of the fuses(owner's manual).

I had a 4625 for 11 years. Added a HM steel toolbox behind the seat. Eventually had intermittent problem with main fuse blowing. Rough ground, stopped dead. Loose fitting tool box shorted out a pigtail wire (not connected to anything) behind the seat. Your case, first, battery connections, and make jumper wires for the switch seat and bumper bar to override them for testing.

BTW- this thing drove me nuts for days...tipped up the cab, literally ran fingers over entire wiring harness checking for bad spots......multiple times. Case/IH/Gehl dealer tech said.....put a solid link in, watch for where the smoke rises!
