I just bought a 1572 cub cadet from a friend of mine, and I was wondering what problems/things I should be looking out for. He complained that it was underpowered for the 60" deck, and he said the driveshaft (or the rag coupler type thing on it) broke too often. Of course his version of too often was every 3-4 years. Anyway, it was purchased in 1991, has just under 900 hours, and runs like a champ.
I wasn"t really looking for a mower this large, but I can"t pass up a deal. I guess I"ll have to park it next to my $300 forklift.
Anyway, I"m going to pop the deck off of it tomorrow to clean it and weld up a random hole or two before I give it a new coat of paint.
Also, anyone know a good size lug tire to put on the back of this? The original tires are 26*12-12 turfs, and I"m wanting to mount some of the carlisle lugs since my 4 acres are quite sandy (and it needs new tires anyway). As you know, the original tires are rather close to the fenders as it sits, and I"d prefer the new tires fit.
