German John Deere

What series of John Deere tractors are or were made in Germany. I understand those in the 2000 series were. Loader mounting kits I understand are different for those over the Waterloo series.

JD Tractors have been built in Mannheim Germany from about 1963 until the present in 2008. That's allot of tractors and dozens of different models. Which era & model are you talking about?
Utility tractors in the 20,30,40,50 & 55 series? Or the 6000 and recently the 7000 series?

Do you know where the John Deere 3141 and 3641, with the Perkens engines, were built?

Never heard tell of the model until you mentioned it. Both the 3141 and 3641 do exist in the Deere parts data base.
Where are you located? About the only place Deere used Perkins was in South Africa.

I'm in the states. A tractor jockey said he had a 3141. I looked in a book, and checked JD parts. They seam to be the same as a 3140, except they have 354 Perkens instead of a 359 JD.

Deere started in Germany by buying the Lanz company in 1956, and had the Deere name on the Lanz Bulldog by 1958.

Don't forget the 510 and 710.

Mother Deere also built a 310 that didn't make it to Canada.
While the Lance Bulldog did get the Deere name applied to it. And the 310/510/710 were 10 speed Lance tractors with wet sleeve Deere engines. I can't really feel Mannheim built a complete Deere until the 2120 etc.

A JD with a Perkins! The 354 is an excellent engine. The most shocking thing however is that JD had to buy the engine from MF as they owned Perkins up until a few years ago when they sold to Cat. Both competitors of JD. Makes you go HMMMM. Dave

Couple of items.
#1 Reset your clock from 1976 to 1982 for who owned who and when.
#2 Some countries such as South Africa would not allow machinery to be imported with a foreign components they could themselves manufacture. S.A. has a Perkins factory. Deere would rather sell thousands of 90% JD tractors instead of zero 100% JD tractors.
Other than not having a five bearing crankshaft on a four cylinder engine. Thus suffering loose main caps and broken cranks sometimes. The Perkins was a very good diesel engine.
