Getting Started in North Carolina

I've driven tractors a long time.
I want to start playing with pulling. Any advice where to start?
I am near North Carolina, willing to travel a few hours to pull.
I need to buy a tractor...any advice what to buy/build to get started? I'm a reasonable mechanic.

I don't want to break the bank, but realize its going to cost money.
I've been considering a farm fresh Super M...or should I get something somebodies monkied with?

I own an H now but don't think she'll be too competitive...she's a kerosene model with the lower compression engine that runs well, but I haven't done anything to her other than tune her and change the fluids...just looking for some help to get started.

I've been pulling for a few years now, however been going to spectate for 15 years or so. For what I've learned, you may be better off buying a tractor that has already had screws turned, learn all you can about whats in it to get a feel for it, then jump in and have some fun. You will have to decide on what color you want, as you will have fun no matter which one you decide on. Do you want to pull in heavy classes, go into light classes, or a mid range, like an M Farmall or JD A? Once again, that will be what you want and have the equipment to support it. What part of NC are you looking to start pulling? I know of an Ollie 77 for sale that has had some work done, for a decent price. Just an option. Good Luck

I"d be interested in know more about the ollie77...I"m in Raleigh, and distance really isn"t a big deal to buy a decent tractor...I have a trailer.
I was looking something midrange like an M or an llie 77 or 88
