Gleaner E

What can you guys tell me about a Gleaner Model E? There's one that has popped up for sale near me that looks good in the photo, but would obviously need a physical inspection. I really have no need for it, but if the price is right... might be fun just to putt around to the local tractor club show etc.

one of the best,i made my first crop with one.they are very reliable and easy to work on.i still have my grandaddys ole E and it sits proudly in the shed right by the big combines.its the only thing i have that is not for sale.

That machine most likely does not have ac or heat if it is just a E.. They had what I believe is the same as a wd45 engine in them, and although I have never had one, a few years ago I looked at one and I do believe a majority of the parts were still available thru agco. (I always research before buying) I am sure however that someone here can tell you a lot more than I can.

Depending on Your location, I have a JD 3300 I would sell. I am in se lower Michigan if you are interested (as I have found a Case combine I would rather have, as I am more into case ag items than JD)

an e3 has a larger grain tank. 65 bushel instead of 40? they have a rotary radiator screen, the feeder beater and header drive are a little different. i think the feeder house is slightly longer, anyway seems to be more clearance between drive tires and header. engines are same, cylinder same and capacity is the same. i harvest grainwith a 12 ft. head and corn with a two row wide header with my e3. it's not to fast but it does all i ask and it's paid for. these are both simple machines that are relatively easy to work on. after that many years it probably will have some dry bearings also belts will be pretty hard and cracked. parts are available at agco dealer. main drive belt around $130 traction drive about the same also seperator drive belt about the same. ive considered putting an AC unit on top the cab, or even a water cooler if i could find one.

There is an E on Ebay now for $20. It's in Indiana though.

What part of NC are you in . I live in Hickory and know of a few around for sale.
