The wife and I will be taking a family vacation to Idaho very soon. We will be driving and will take plenty of time to do some site seeing . We will be traveling mostly along interstate 90 going out and interstate 80 on the way back home. Some of the places we plan on seeing (none of which I have ever seen) are Mount Rushmore, Yellow Stone national Park, Grand Teton national Park, Glacier National park and the Corn Palace at Mitchell South Dakota.
Just thought some of you might know of some off the beaten trail things that are worth taking the time to see. We will have plenty of time so we don’t mind taking detours to see some interesting things. Our destination is Cour D'Alene Idaho and our starting point is Ky. So before it's over we will be traveling through 12 states. Ky. Ill. Missouri, Iowa, Minnesota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Utah, Colorado and Nebraska.
If anyone knows of any interesting things to see let me know and we may put them in our plans. And yes I will looking at every old case tractor I can find between here and there. Just wish I could bring some of them home with me.

Must stop at antique car museum in Murdo Sd. They have a 1915 case car there. It's right on 90 bout half way across Sd.

Ky, just north of Moorcroft Wy. is Devils Tower ( remember close encounters of the third kind) and just off exit 129 in Gillette Wy is my place if you would like to stop by and take a look not much to see but I like them and if you like can take you to a friends also if he's home he has restored a number of all brands and done a nice job, also south of I-90 is Deadwood SD, they have gambiling, an is quite a tourist attraction, when you go to Mount Rushmore, their is a 1880's steam train you can ride best make resorvations on that thought, lots of caves to explore in SD also(guided tours) in MT you will be close or go right by Custer Battle field, if you like Buffalo about 45 miles south of Gillette is one of the largest Buffalo ranches around and usally they have some you can see from the hiway, well hope this gives some ideas e-mail is open cnt

I agree with the other suggestions. I would like to add, don't miss the badlands in South, D. Well worth ihe 2 hour drive through.

July 23 Vinton, IA Geiger auction ? Gieger.
Not listed very well but the guy selling has alot of Case stuff from C"s +,D"s through 930. Sheet metal, mags etc. NOS on shelves. He had bought out the local dealership many years ago. Didn"t really push the old stuff. He"s been making his money with portable cranes for many years. I think he"s around 76 or78 and it"s time to retire. Guys name is Dell Roman

There is a tractor small museum just off I-90 at Kimball, SD, just west of Mitchell about an hour. It is worth stopping at, it is funded and run by locals on a volunteer basis. Give me a call when you are at the Corn Palace, my office is just down the street in the next block south of the south side of the corn palace. I can tell you a lot about growing the corn that they use to decorate it & if you have enough time, we could go to the farm and look at a few letter series Cases. Brother-In-Law & I have about 15-20 out there. My cell # is 605.770.3112. My B-I-L & I would be more than happy to visit with you & talk about Cases, if you have the time. (My $0.02 worth. jal-SD)

For a very enjoyable and relaxing return through Nebraska, drive U.S. Route 30. It parallels I-80. Goes through several small towns, some with small museums.4 lane highway and 65 MPH speed limit. It also parallels one of the busiest railway routes with constant trains in both directions. North Platte has one of the largest rail makeup yards in the country.

When are you going? There are several Case shows in the area the next 8 weeks. You are welcome to stop by here if you wish. I am about 60 miles North of I90, 10 miles West on I29. If you email I can give you an idea of what there is to see here. DK

Do you have a route planned to get to I80 from Cour D' Alene? Going through Salt Lake City? On the way, go through Idaho Falls and stretch your legs at the Army Surplus store south of town. Your wife will be bored to death, but you will be amazed at the size of the place. If you aren't interested in Salt Lake, then go on down the interstate past Pocatello and Incom and just a little farther south, turn off on HWY 30 east. It's a nice wide two lane shortcut to I80 and you go through some neat little towns on the way. You will meet I80 just west of Little America. Just an Idea. Oh yeah, when you go to Yellowstone, go in via the northeast entrance. It takes you over Beartooth pass by way of Red Lodge. Mountain driving at it's best! Jim

Going east on I-80 or HWY 30 (The Lincoln HWY) stop at Sidney and visit Cabela"s. (Sidney is their hdq. and coroperate offices. The first big store). Buffalo Bills Ranch at North Platte. The archway across I-80 at Kearney. Also the air musem at Omaha. At Offut. Air base. home of the SAC. Pardon my spelling. I live 9 mi. south of I-80 off Hwy 19 at a little town called Lorenzo NE.

What are the interests of your Wife and family? We might have some ideas of stuff they might want to see. If mom isn't happy nobody will be happy!

If you are on I-90 through Luvurne Minn. I am about 45 min straight south of there. Been to many of the places you talked about and want to go to the others one day. Sounds like you are going to have an great trip.

I'm 20 miles off I-80 in Heber City UT. I'm parting out a VAC. If you need some parts let me know what you need. If I have it you can save on shipping cost by picking them up on your way through.

I go to Mitchell every year, I will try to remember to post again before I leave, but would love to see your collection sometime. I hunt in Letcher with my boys for a week or so every year.
