And show what goes in there? My point is it may not even hurt anything if it remains open, it is inside the crankcase, correct? So if it leaks it wouldn’t hurt anything. Only thing that might matter is if it is supposed to hood some level of oil in there for lubrication. Or you could skip all the possible heat distortion by repairing it with epoxy/JB weld.

Too late, I all ready welded it. It did distort a little bit, but not too much (I preheated it before I welded it, I also put it in sand sand after I welded it). I used a stick (with 99 percent nickel rods) and mig (with the regular wire) welder. Before I painted it, I tested it for leaks.

The day before yesterday I finished put it back together. And yesterday I tried starting it. After I bled the fuel system, it started after a few tries. But there was a hydraulic leak at the hydraulic pump (when putting the hydraulic pump back on I noticed, the O ring was gone, so I got one out of my assortment, but it was to thick, so it just blew out). So I ordered the oem O ring from Coleman equipment yesterday. Also when taking the loader pins out, I broke off the pin. So now I have to make new ones ( it was so rusted it just snapped).

The other day I changed the hydro/hydraulic oil and the gear oil in the front axle and hubs. It was $140 for the hydraulic oil (5 gallons of genuine Kubota) and $77 for the gear oil (5 gallons). I also did some buffing to get the fade out of the paint and I added a back light too.Tthen I fixed the stop and hazard lights. Now its almost done.
 
I sold it today for $8500! (I bought it for $1700)

I agree, it's a neat project. But, off brand models don't play well with viewership, and views is how they make their money. Squatch 253 has the same problem. I love the X231 Moline project, what he has done with a pile of broken, one-off, parts is amazing. But he said he has to put it on the back burner because he looses viewers everytime he does a string of videos on it. Plus, it's his most intensive project, just to have a low return. First start videos is where the views are, so Squatch has done a couple of those. Now, he has started another Caterpillar project, a narrow RD6. He said the Cat stuff gets his view numbers up.

It's your time, only you know how to value it.

$2400 was the initial investment including parts, and it brought back $8500 in revenue, leaving you a supposed $6100 profit. If your spare time is worth nothing, then yes, your profit was $6100 ($122/hr). How much does it normally cost a company or you for 50 hours of your time? I'd deduct that from the $6100 as well. However, I'm also I'm assuming this was a spare time project (as of course they all are), so that would make it a great deal. Now whether my wife (or other projects I should've been doing) agree, is another issue, but put a grand in her hand and all is forgiven, and I still have enough to fill the coffee can for future "projects."
