Got married.......

Hey guys, if you read my message a few weeks back I had gotten engaged rather quickly (meaning 6 days) after meeting a very special lady. As expected I got alot of the usual "good" advise about marriage, doing things too quick, etc and I took it all "under advisement". Well it was 6 days to the engagement and then 9 days to til we took the plunge on Nov 30. Quick again I know but like someone once told me if you don't plan to marry a woman then why bother to get engaged and drag things out.... We did it at the Magistrates office with two witnesses, and had one of the witnesses, a friend, take a few pics. We've been married for 11 days now and it's been great. We've both got smiles from ear to ear and she said her cheeks were starting to hurt from so much smiling... Personally I have no doubts I found a keeper and she says the same about me. We both know it won't always be this perfect, that the honeymoon will eventually end, but we also know that with a little effort and compromise when needed, by both of us, we plan to last the rest of our lives. It's been a great 11 days, I'm looking forward to the next 50 years...if she can put up with me that long, LOL... I'm living with her right now while we remodel my place at which point we're gonna sell her current house and move into our/her newly remodeled place full time. Yes I said "her place"...I told her she can have the house as long as she leaves my shop alone...LOL

A couple back home met in Carlsbad NM at a dance. A group of them went to Juarez Mex that night and they got married that morning. When they sobered up they made the decision to make a try at it. Back in the 70`s they had their 50th Anniversary. I don`t know when they passed on but I bet they were still together till then. Go for it man !

Philip,
So you live on Prince Edward Island...? PEI is one place I'd like to visit. I'd like to talk to you about life/agriculture on the island. In fact, I'll bet most of the YT guys would appreciate your posting a general summary of such.

My e-mail is open.

Thank you,
Glenn FitzGerald

Congrates Wayne.

I met my wife 34 years ago in high school and told my friends 2 weeks later that she would be my wife some day.

Well that was 32 years ago that we were married are still are.

Somtimes you just know.

Goodluck.

Agriculture is in very serious trouble here right now.Beef is in termoil all over Canada.Dairy is still sustainable, thank goodness that's what we have on our farm.Potato industry is suffering from high Can. dollar because it is reliant on exports.Tourism has suffered setbacks because of lower exchange for US travellers. It is still as beautiful as ever though.Lots of shiny equipment in fields during summer months.Lush hay fields, rows of full potato drills, barley swaying in the breeze as always. The rural communities are not doing well.At least 70% of high school grads move to Alberta to find a better living in the oil communities. There are alot of homes for sale.Business in rural areas are closing too. It's sad.It is a very beautiful place to visit, even a nice place to have a summer home.It is not a good place to move to raise a family anymore, very uncompetitive salleries and bennifits.

best wishes to you. Come out here to the nc mountians so I can buy you both lunch. My parents met in may of 1949 (after the blizzard of '49) and were married 3 months later in august. For many years they tried to skirt the issue and throw us off as kids, but we finally wised up to what had happened. They were married 40 years till my dad died suddenly in 1990. Best wishes!

They say the first 50 years are the hardest, but they didn't mention what it was. We'll be married 55 years in 2008. Hal

Congratulations, Wayne! I wondered why you had not been posting, now I know why.. Someday, when I am up that way, I'll stop by and meet your new family. Best Wishes, and may God bless ..

Well, I told you to slow down. Now I'll say, congraulations and I wish both of you long, happy, healthy and prospourus lives together.

Congrats on the marriage. Wedding takes a few minutes, marriage takes a lifetime. Been at it 43 years and still don't know how she can get so mad at a perfect guy like me.

Congrates !
Nothing wrong with getting that wedding out of the way early.

I hope you took some to the best of the advice given before and got a prenup so what is yours stays yours. You never know what the future holds or how and when her attitude will change.

Congrats, Wayne. I've always though your posts were some of the most clear, level-headed, and helpful on this board, and if you take that attitude into your marriage, I'm sure you'll both do fine!

Wish you the best. Dated my wife for 2 years, been married for 28. Wasn't always a bed of roses, but we stuck it out.Now the hard part's over and we can enjoy life. Wouldn't trade places with you. I know what you're going to be going through for the next 20 years to get to this point.

Congratulations Wayne and your new bride! With a little cooperation, everything is much better for two. We are going on 42 years and every day is better. Just like first date. Look how long it took to get that way!
