Where can I get a good spring for the governor to raise rpm on a farmall 400?

one way you could use the existing spring is to zip-tie 3 or 4 coils together. or you could make one out of a hardware store spring. 2 low cost options

C-173 at TSC works well, about 2100 rpm

Thanks, think I'll give a try. I also found one at Denny, but not a fan of him. Don't know how that rude and in business go together.

It is a little more work, but instead of going to a heavier spring, you may find you end up with a more responsive governor if you grind down the fly weights untill the stock spring will get you what you want (depending on exactly how high you want to go).

Just find an old washing machine and use a sping off of it works great but you might want to keep an extra on hand
