Governor adjustment

1952 Super M runs just fine. Pulling a heavy load about 1/2 throttle I hit a hard spot. The engine pulls down to something like 200 RPM's you think it's going to die. Then the governor kicks in the RPM goes up about 500 RPM's or so and it pulls right threw the hard spot. I would think as soon as the load increases it should be a slow increase in RPM's not a jump of 500 or so. Question should the actions of the governor be smoother than that?

Worn weight pins, and the thrust washer, that the weights push on have flat spots dug in to the surface.

New weight pins, flip that washer over,, it will be alot better! ChadS

While you are checking for the grooves on the washer also look for the place on the weights that run on the washer it may be flat there, when it is supposed to be rounded (I think that this adds to the response you are describing). I have rounded these by grinding. When I priced the new ones I decided I would give it a try.
