I believe it is a 1977. BTW, that was the last year of production.

I"m curious to know what condition your 408 is in and if you restored it yourself where you got the necessary parts. I am considering the purchase of this model currently. I"m curious to as to the value of a restored model if anyone knows.

Steve, I have 3 complete Gravely 408's and a parts machine. One is all original and in outstanding condition. I have rebuilt about every component there is on another, including the mower deck right angle drive gearboxes and the transaxle. Some parts are still available, others not. I have stockpiled some of the more common items that are NLA, and there is a great Yahoo group that is dedicated to the 408. They have all the manuals, plenty of photos, how-to descriptions, and the knowledge & experience to help.
