Gravely snow blower

Hi Guys,
Since my last post I was able to "tighten" the auger some more, and driving in a lower gear, and higher revs got a recent 3" snow fall under control.
Now maybe I'm overthinking this, but back in the barn, engine off, and PTO off and transmission in neutral should I not be able to turn the auger by hand?
I can't....maybe moves an inch and that's it.

Why?

Worm gears are very difficult to drive from bull gear to worm. If the ratio is much closer to 1:1, it will turn but your blower probably has 15:1 ratio to slow the auger. Jim
