Grimm S-8 Tedder

Just bought a Grimm S-8 (2 basket, pull type) tedder. Kind of like the simplicity and lack of multiple gearboxes and extra shafts and the quiet belt drive. Ah, the belt...while this one appears nearly new (and only slightly tightened) it might be a good idea to have a spare.
After scouring the web for a manual and/or a belt length (or part #) yielded no results- I"m coming to you fine folks.
Anybody got any info? I know there"s a few on here with Grimm"s, particularly the East Coaster"s (as they were made in Vermont). I"d sure appreciate whatever info/tips you"ve got!

These type of tedders are more a fluffer than a true tedder. They are simple but they do not spread the hay out much at all. So the drying time is longer.

The drive belt is usually not run too tight. It being able to slip is the only "slip clutch" you have on it. The belt is nothing special just measure the length and then you can get one ordered.

Understood. I don"t really need a huge spread with this one- more to take care of any "wads" or "slugs" from my NH 489 haybine (especially in 1st cut alfalfa/timothy/orchard grass).
Belt looks to be a "double V" hexangle shape- will that make it any more interesting for finding a spare?

Call Grimm in Vermont , they will mail you a manual and a parts list. They should have a belt but hardly any other parts.

Grimm was bought out by Leader Evaporator in Rutland,VT.They are still have some parts available for Grimm products.

Thanks to all. I had read that they had been bought. Just saw maple syrup production stuff on their site (obviously their speciality). Will call them for more info.

I think I had the same one you have, it took a CC belt, pretty long. I think I got it from columbia rubber, in Beltsville, MD. I would take off the belt, and measure it, part number will be CC-144, if it is 144" long, for example.

I just replaced the belt on my Grimm s-8 tedder. After doing a little research the belt is a cc-198 double angled hex belt. I purchased the belt through v- belt global supply in Sioux Falls SD.They have a web site. The phone number is 888-291-5450. It was a couple hundred dollars cheaper than going through Grimm.

The belt is actually a CC 195 double V as per the manufacturer's specs. only problem I am having is gettiong the belt on. I lost my pamphlet. Bugger.

Anyone got a picture they can upload?
