Growlers

Does anyone know how or have plans to build a growler to check armatures?

My dad built some in the 30s and 40s, but I do not know how.

I Googled growlers and it results in something for the brewing activity?????

Oldoaky2, Not trying to beat you but I have one I'll sell to jimlll for $25.00 and shipping. Might be a deal for you if you can sell for 50.

jimlll, before you get one read all you can about them. Heck, maybe you already know but if not read. I remember as a kid all the mechanics had one and now I wanted one. Several years ago I got one and got to looking at it and those things look dangerous. Looks like you could get electrocuted if you didn't work it just right. I never tried it, I'm chicken KLUCK, KLUCK. I don't remember seeing it in a couple years but I'm sure it in the shop somewhere.

I use a growler in my shop and see no danger in using it.A useful tool that most people never heard of these days.

Google "armature growler" and many come up. Search online auctions and will probably find plenty cheap and not have to make one. They don't bring hardly anything at shop auctions today either.

they made growlers out of old radio power transformers. A wide V cut was cut in the transformer frame.
