Last I heard he was living on a private island and fully financed NASAs first moon landing.

We used them at the paper mill to align pump to motor shafts. Had them form .001" to .125" all SS

Two, inserted in opposing directions, also made great spacers, so you didn't have to completely disassemble a piece of machinery.

You either came across a stash of someone’s tools at a price you felt was a bargain. Or, you were really serious at some point about completing front end alignments in a time efficient manner.

Yep, alignment shims. I used some on cars. I used a ton of them at work in the cotton mill. I kept a box full of various sizes in my toolbox.

Worked at a grain elevator 35 yrs used a bunch shimming motors a reducers and aligning pulleys on belt lines
