H serial number

The serial # tag is off the tractor, are there any other ways to identify the year and is the # cast anywhere. Tractor has the smaller pto shaft so we believe it is a 1939. We would like to know the serial # if possible.

If it has the original engine the engine serial # will be the same as tractor. Stamped in block above tappet cover on right side above ignition unit. Letters and numbers will be about 3/16 inch or so tall. Some 39 models didn't have a serial plate on clutch housing and the number was stamped in a frame rail. Does the transmission top have a slot under the seat?

look at the casting numbers. each number starts with a letter. that letter indicats the year it was cast i.e. a D could mean 1945. get your casting numbers and check with the guys over at redpower.com

I have a '44 H, and my serial number and engine number match. So a '39 should definately match.
