I got back from a 60 mile road trip on my h. I was running full throttle in road gear. I turned it off and then tried to start it back up. It will not fire back up. Is it overheated? Why wont it start? Please help.

Are you sure there's gas in the tank? If there's plenty of gas in the tank you need to check for gas in the carburetor. Hold your hand over the throat of carburetor and see if there's good suction and your hand should get wet with gas. You may have an ignition problem. Check for fire at the plugs. You may a bad condenser. Hal

C'mon dalton!! customer service time!! Seriously though, Id make sure theres theres gas (no im not kiddin') then let the poor thing cool down. How was yer trip?

BTW, if yer new here, welcome to the site!! These are great guys here.

your post said you sold it to someone named dustin, this is a fred. It may be his nickname, but if not, its one big counsidence that someone posts about someone making a 60mile trip on a tractor, and the next mornin, someone says they just finished one-you can see how i assumed who you sold it to-but hey, could be his nickname.

It obvious that you are not a mechanic so here is the procedure for testing why your tractor won't start.
1. check fuel carb should have fuel pull line of plug at bottom of carb to check for flow.
2. check for spark. Pull a wire loose crank engine over while holding wire close to a ground it should be blue or nearly blue spark.
3. check compression pull plug hold finger over not in hole and turn engine it should pop your finger right off.
If all these are OK engine should start. If not then you need someone who has the tools and knowledge to look further into your problem.
we could make guesses here all day an sooner or later hit the right thing but believe me it takes a knowledgeable person with experience to trace down your no start problem. Not that we won't help all we can but if you are not a mechanic or person with the knowledge needed to do this then you might want to get a friend who will teach you as you trace down your problem.

Was this the maiden run?

I read on the IH forum here about somebody selling a H to a person that was going to drive the H 60 miles back to his house?

Did you enjoy the ride? The first tractor ride I went on was about 24 miles. I drove thru 2 downpours. Swamped the cell phone and the shoes were completely full of water. Then the sun came out and the clothes were dried in the next 5 miles. I really enjoyed the ride. Can't wait to do it next year.
