Hi,
Just want to let you know what I did today...my club had a plowing bee today...over 20 tractors and 80 acres...
At one time we had 18 tractors with 50 bottoms going...1 tractor had 2-12" and the rest were 14-16...over 70 feet turn over in one past..1/2 mile long row one way..it had some tuff spots and good ones
The biggest tractors were a-Case 900- Oliver 1600 and a IH 1256...all the others were smaller..mostly 2 or 3 bottom...
If I could figure HOW to post pictures I would..Haven't got that figure out yet..
Anyway just wanted to share....

Howdy,

Sounds like you had a fun day too. After getting home from work today at 4pm I got the 720 started and took the old IH 70 with 4 16"s out and worked on finishing up my fall plowing. Just about done too. Workin on the ends of the fields. Talk about beautiful, this evening was just right. Nice temps, a little haze in the hills, still a good bit of color in the woods, the smell of diesel, and the sound of a two cylinder diesel poundin away. God bless.

It was at Pella,Iowa ... down on River bottom...YES I had my Case LA there with a 3 - 16's ... as hard as it pulled I'm glad I didn't bring my 4 bottom...
I was plowing 6-8 inches deep ..most the time..at times the plow would NOT stay in the ground... everone was haveing that problem...
Overall it still was a BLAST...

Boy, I sure would have liked to get down there today but I'm working on a rental house and have the front door out and most of the sheeting tore off the front. You can see all the drywall from the outside and with the weather going downhill on Monday, I thought I'd better stay at it.

My little Fergy TO-20 might have had trouble pulling 2 bottoms in that hard stuff.

Walt said corn picking was a hoot last weekend. The weather was sure great.

Sounds like fun!

I would reaqlly like to host a plow day sometime in the future, maybe I can contact a club or just invite a bunch of you guys who live in the area. I slept in pretty late today because I really didn't have much to do, then I did a bunch of other stuff while there was still daylight.

I went out plowing around 6:30, got about 3 acres done but the harrow on the side had a crack running rihgt along a weld on one of the supposrt arms so I came home and fixed it. I ended up taking it clean off the plow so could weld it easier, and then I had to weld a plate on one side because the crack was starting to spider web out. Dad helped me take it off and put it back on, we replaced a couple bolts and cut the others off so they weren't so long.

Got it all back together and headed back out to the field around 10:45, and finished up that field about 20 minutes ago at around 12:20.(am) Now I've got 2 more fields to finish, and I want to shine up the 3 bottom we got so I can repaint the bottoms.
