I know when dads farm sold out back in 81, it was hard. He`s mentioned a thousand times about how he missed this piece of equipment, or that tractor.

It still a decent looking old combine with some sentimental value.Gleaners dont rust.

I'd love to know where my 1983 F3 Gleaner is at that I purchased new in Oct of that year.I turned it back in late 1985.I ran ads offering to give it to anyone that would take over the payments and didnt get a single phone call.Times were hard back then.

I spent many hours in an F variable speed belt drive. One with a hydro would have been nice. Seems like it never gave too much grief to me. Only slugged it bad once one a patch of wheat that was full of green rye. That was no fun at all. It was handy with an 18ft header it would cross all the bridges without having to pull it off.

It had the 2800 diesel in it, which was sold and is now in some tractor 200 miles east of here.

Has a half a tank of diesel fuel tho. :>)

Nothing hard to look at there. Never occured to me before looking at your pictures, but you can have that looking darn near like new without spending $0.02 on paint.

One right side field light is missing on the cab along with the walkers and engine stuff. Every belt has had it and I'd imagine that all the bearings need replaced.

Thresher beater is totally trashed.

Looked up into the cylinder and I swear those are the same new set of cylinder bars I had just put in. But, that was probably three sets ago tho.

Nice to see all that dirt removal equipment is still in the machine. :>)

Guess I'll just start in and go from one end of 'er to the other. What'da figure? Three years? :>)

Up until about an hour ago, I had absolutely no idea what I was gonna do with the old heifer except to use it to look at and soothe my troubled old soul.

Thanks to my wife and a support team like you guys, I think it has just simply got to be fixed, don't you? Repaired back to a useable condition?

Heck, I mean, half of that engine replacement job is already completed. :>)

I think it is a shame that you want to keep that original machine to yourself. I propose that we on this board, in gratitude to your many contributions to this board, simply donate some parts for its restoration. Then we can claim it as 'our' machine, but you get to play with it. I've got a couple of straw walkers for the long machine, #39201 and up. Bet I can find the countershaft sprocket- 25T/13T!. ok- you'll have to pay the freight, especially on the walkers! LOL.

it may be in rough shape, but, look at it this way...

one engine and some straw walkers and it is good to go.

You come up with an Allis 2800 diesel engine and the walkers and I'm loading my checkbook and a thermos of coffee in that old Ford and pointing her into the wind.

Amazingly, the Upper Midwest AC Club newsletter came today, and someone at Ruthton,MN- no phone number, has a 2900 block for sale for $200. I have a couple of engines out of F's- they would be Chevy? Guy 10 miles north of me collects Gleaners- rebuilt F2 for beans, another for corn, has about a dozen old ones. He's why I have two extra walkers- I found two at a salvage yard, he had a complete set, and would sell them only that way. Also torched off a complete rear separator housing from an F2 for me. Why would I need one? Short story is I should have used TWO chains when the better half pulled me out of the mud. Dark, splitting a field so could not pull out at an angle, better half did not wait for me to call on the two-way, that I was out. Stopped.........I kept going, and punched the combine through the back window of the 4430! That time, discretion was not the better part of valor. Sure, you're supposed to say- when they are surrounded by broken glass- "Are you OK?". My comment was mostly-WyTF did you stop!!!!!

I already found the sprocket! Searching the black 430 head for a driveshaft- which did'nt match my 630. Have the divider points as well. I take coffee black, no sugar or cream!. ok, Irish works for this Kraut!.

All chains, sprockets and divider points are accounted for as of my check writing this morning. :>)

Still need walkers and a diesel 2800 (or 2900?) from the rotary screen to the pulley.

I'll buy ya all the coffee ya want and pay ya very well too.

My Dad told me that he still broke into a sweat thinking about doing the same thing only Mom was on an open station 3020 when she stopped before she was suppose to. He lacked about a foot hitting the tractor just because he felt he should stop. Must have been that angel tapping him on his shoulder.
