I have a water problem getting in oil can anyone tell me about hardblocking , can i do this myself or is this something i need to take to a machine shop. Is there any modifications that have to be made to run water through the head. Any help please.

I know of a real good running Oliver that has oil for coolant. Treat it kinda like your wife, she's not perfect, but she is the one you got. LOL Vic

HARDBLOCK-- The word that strikes fear into antique tractor pullers...LOL

I have ran them all, dry block, wet block, leaking, seeping, dripping, etc. There are some good engines out there that are hardblocked. It isn't very hard to do, you just need some patients and a little time. The Moroso stuff flows a little better though the engine. You need to take a couple long straws and plunge up and down in the mixture to make sure the trapped air gets out.

Be sure to: Check the roundness of the bore after the mixture sets up, because filling the block can distort roundness of your sleeves. And you will need to add a return line to the rear of the head to complete the path of coolant circulation since you have filled the block. You will need to put an electric water pump and fan on it so you can cool the engine while it isn't running.

The other option is to put a petcock in the oil pan drain plug, drain the oil an pour it back in the radiator....that will work too ;).

hard block wither its moroso, hardblock or embeco . Does not cure water leaks . It is designed to give a cut up fragile block some strength. Best thing for leaking sleeves is pipe plugs tapped and installed into the water jacket ports in the block or bottom of the head so no water can get to the leaks . Or a new sleeve installed with proper crush so that it seals to the block bores .jmho

ong as you dont burst a radiator hose, methanol is a even better coolant dont freeze or get a thicker viscosity in colder weather. Doesnt foul spark plugs if its getting into the cylinder either. jmho.
lOl that is what a quick search engine on a computer would conclude. Since generic opinion is thats all I know to do. Hehe he haw you all.

We had really good luck with the Embeco 885.. I believe it has changed names.. You can get it in a 40Lb bag, and its much cheaper then the hard block branded stuff..

Have you tried a good sealant? Blue Devil works great and is available at most auto parts stores. I would try that first before the hard block.

Jim when I got my engine back from Marlatt I had a little water it was coming from where the liners were brazed in. I used that product got it at autozone it was around $70.00 for a bottle but done the job. Now I have absolutely no water in the oil.
