Harvey works....information please?

Hello;

I am interested in the history behind Allis Chalmers and wondered if anybody out there knew anyting about the "Harvey Works" I hear of now and again.such as when they were open, how big they were , etc...

thanks for you help

Go to related sites and then to The Tractor Shed and then to Allis Chalmers, some history that might help you. Good luck.

The Harvey Works , at Harvey Ill. was actually the site of the Buda Engine Co. A-C bought them in '53 , for their forklift line , as well as their excellent engines . Find a copy of "the Allis Chalmers Story by C.H. Wendel. The Buda story starts on Pg 54.

the big "Harvey" engines, diesels were used in the HD 21C and 16B crawlers, and some wheel loaders till the early 1980s.--- Then changed to FIAT motors.

Try Norm Swinford's book, Allis Chalmers Farm Tractors, or C.H. Wendel's book, the Allis Chalmers Story. Both are good reads, also Walt Buescher's book, but it's out or print and rare now. Try the unofficial Allis Chalmers web page, too, lots of old timers with stories!

Hi
I realize this post is pretty old. But you said you had owed a Buda. Do you remember what the large gauge in center was? I was wondering if it had anything to do with the fact I can't get spark to the coil, not being hooked up. The other gauge's are around 2" but the one in the center is more like three inches.

My problem is I can't get any spark from the coil to the distributor. I have twelve volts going to the plus side of the coil.. I tried another working coil just to see if I could get spark from it, none. I have tried undoing wires to see if something is grounding it out but nothing. Do you have any left over books or links you could suggest, cause its so old I can't find out anything??
Thank you for any advice or links you can give me.
Kipp
