hauling a 4020

I need to haul the '69 4020 with a chevy 2500 hd p/u. The tractor has rear wheel weights and a weight on the front. I dont have a trailer that will haul it at this time. Can I do this? What trailer should I buy to do it(dual tandem, dual 7k axles, triple axle)? Thanks in advance for any comments.

I haul my 4020 with a 2005 GMC 3/4 ton, on a tandem axle (7k per axle)singles and I have plenty of pickup but the trail is maxed out for longer distances. Hauled the sons 730 a hundred miles. OK but need more trailer to be comfortable.

The weight of your tractor will be around 9000/10000#.I haul tractors all the time and have had some different lengths axles[tandem and duals]If you are a farmer hauling your own tractors or farm related items my choice gooseneck is a 32ft tandem axle with 10000 axles and we use a 3/4 single wheel diesel and by having a longer trailer you can use it for hay or whatever.Extra length is like making a building longer you already have the front and back so the middle is cheaper.

I haul my 4320 with my 01 dodge 2500 diesel and 16000 gvw trailer. I will only go short distances with it though. It's too much. Im never really comfortable. The next trailer I get is going to be dual wheels tandom axle. The pick up handles it pretty well, but I might check into a dually the the next time I'm shopping.

Back in 77 I hauled a New 4630 set up to pull up to the 15,000 class all over Ohio with an 1977 F250 and a tandem trailer, it was a bit much but it dealt with it just fine..of course I was 25 years old and "bullet Proof" back then....

we have put a 730 diesel and 60 on a 21' 7k pound axle trailer pull it with ether a 2500 when running local shows or 3500 chevy pick up and have had no problems.

Your truck will be plenty. I weighed the 4020 with 148 loader and a couple rear wheel weights last year bringing it home from loading hay, I want to say it was around 10,500 pounds. 34 inch rubber, no fluid.

Somewhere above 30000 or it would have snapped in half buy now the trailer my uncle bought from a guy who built it to haul a d6 cat and I know the safety police will have there nnalert in a big knot but I dont care I've had 37 gvw on before. hauling a 4020 should be no big deal just drive a half mile ahead and to both sides and go slow its not a NASCAR race

I would not buy a trailer with out dual wheel tandems in terms of safety in case you would have tire failure.I know my GVW is higher but I have been through scales and stopped a few times for speeding and the one thing they care about most is that the load is secured with good chains and binders but again I am only hauling my own farm equiptment or hay which makes a big difference.Once you are commercial the rule page becomes a lot longer.I also have several farm semis and again they have a different set of rules.Heavy use tax is exempt, med card, farm plate, log book,CDL are just a few things that farmers get a free pass on.
