hay making reference book

i have a life long friend that has just retired, and bought a small farm. for as long as i can remember hes' wanted to live on a farm and care for a few animals. as a house warming gift, i'd like to find a book that explains the ins and outs of making hay. i'm not sure such a book exists, but i know he would benefit from such a book. thanks for any suggestions.

Excellent hay making question , please get back to us in future results .

I have a suggestion ,it’s about farming .
called “ Traditional American and Canadian Farming Techniques “ , written originally in 1916 . Because,I suggest don’t let the date be a turn off , it so practical ,making Farm Farming Techniques very interesting and rewarding.

Does your friend have experience with livestock? If not, perhaps add in a book on the care and feeding of the type of livestock he wants to raise might also be helpful. The learning about livestock through The School of Hard Knocks can be frustrating and very expensive.

If you can find one, Morrisons Feeds and Feeding is an excellent manual for beginners. I have a 1962 copy. A lot of the recommendations seem to be pretty close to numbers from books dated much later.
