I have a hay wagon and it measures 36" from ground to bed height. I m wanting to get it lower somewhere around 30". I have 16" tires on it right now does anyone know what size I need to go to and where is the best place to get those Thanks.

That's pretty low for a hay wagon if you ask me. What size tires are on the rims now? The first step mwould be to go to a 15" rim, or maybe even a 14" rim but it's harder to find decent tire that can support the weight for a good price in 14".

We run used 235 75 R15 truck tires on most of our wagons, but we also have some with 16" rims and much taller tires. Something like a 215 or 225 75 R15 would drop your wagon a few inches atleast over a 16" rim with say a 7.50x16 on it.

The tires are on a 16" rim. What size is marked on the tires? If they're pretty big a buy might be able to get a lower profile tire that would mount on your 16" rims, but more than likely you'll need smaller 15" rims so you can go with a smaller tire, if you REALLY think you need to drop your wagon 6".

Another option would be to find a different running gear that carries the rack a bit lower, but sounds like yours already does carry fairly low.

If you want to get it really low, you could go to Shoup and order low-profile rims and tires to fit your hub. These are the high-load capacity but small diameter wheels and tires used on combine header transport carts. Not a cheap solution, though.

If you want to lower it why not get some low profile 16" tires. Like something off a pontiac vibe (205/55/16 I've got some use ones here that I'm keeping for my mower conditioner). They have a hight of 25" They should hold that weight just fine as most are rated for 1300 lbs. So that's right at over 5 lbs. Used ones should be pretty easy to come by.

Or you could go to like a 205/60/16 little taller, but more common size.

There are also extra load rated tires that are 1500-1700lb load range.

My old wagons still have vintage bias ply 14's on them. Firestone wide ovals must be from the 60's or 70's. Grandpa put them on back in the day. Tread on them is almost new on 3 of them. I've never even looked at the load ratings. But we put 125 squares on them at 50lbs a piece is 6250 lbs just in hay, not including the weight of the wagon itself.

Why not save yourself some money and just cut a notch in the bed rails where it sits on the running gear. 3" notch gets you three inches lower. 3" shorter tire gets you 1.5 inches lower.
