HD7W Steering clutch removal

Have 1947 Allis and steering clutch removal in progress. Have right pinion removed. Have spacers removed from each end of steering clutch. Can get movement in and out a short distance. IS steering shaft a slight bit smaller than pinion or is it the same diameter?
Anyone have steering discs for sale?
How about steering release bearing?

Larry,
Might be a bad question but you are pulling the left steering clutch? You remove the pinion on the opposite side and pull the cross shaft out of the clutch. Very big slide hammer.

When I replaced the release bearings, I got sealed bearings (same number) from the local parts store. They cannot be lubed using the factory setup but being sealed I figure they will last a long time and can be replaced relatively easily.

Have pulled right pinion. I can get movement of clutch shaft but not far, then it feels solid. Is the clutch shaft interference fit with bearings on the way out?

It should not be. May have a wear ridge

Read somewhere you could pull shaft all the way out and pull both steering clutches. Is this not a good idea. Is it better to pull both pinions and move it back and forth to pull clutch pack on each side and not take shaft all the way out.

Larry,
I wouldn't pull the shaft completely out unless I was going into the bevel gear. I don't know how the bevel gear is supported without the shaft or the oil seals.

to get the shaft out, you have to loosen and turn back the adjustable spacers between the differential and the clutches[they are there to center the clutches on the shaft,and prevent any sideplay] on both sides,loosen both the drums and move both clutches towards each other, than take the 2 halve moon keepers off on both ends of the shaft.now you can pull the shaft,dont pull shaft further out than needed ,saves you from wrestling both clutches back in.

crown gear has its own bearings,if no play leave it be,that is a different ball game.

Have removed all parts as you said and have a slide hammer on clutch shaft. it will move in and out about two inches and then won't go any further out. May have to take apart final drive to get out.
