Head bolt studs

Im working on my Massey Ferguson model 65 with an
A4 203. Im replacing the cylinder head gasket. I
pulled all of the studs to clean the threads. I was
gonna replace them using medium strength
removable thread sealant but I noticed the studs
along the injector side of the head have a slot cut
through the threads. Its like the slot provides a
pressure release of some kind. Im wondering if I
should use the thread sealant on these studs or any of
them for that matter.

I found some more information on this topic. Yes they
are blind holes or at least some are. I havent gone
back and looked yet. Im gonna clean these holes out
before I replace the studs. It just seemed odd that
some of the studs had this small cut through the
threads and some didnt. Im not gonna put any
sealant on these in case this slot has a function.

The slots are probably put in the stud threads to keep to some one from destroying the casting by screwing the stud in with oil in the hole or some other non compressible medium inside the hole and forming an incredible amount of hydraulic pressure building up in the hole and blow the side out of the casting. I have seen it done before on a small engine.
