head bolt wrench

I'm looking for a 15/16 offset socket wrench that we use to torque head bolts on Minneapolis Moline tractor. I checked with sanpon and can't get them anymore. Can anyone give me a lead on where to find one

I made one using a cut off box end wrench. Welded a peice of 3/4 keystock veticaly, and a peice of flat on that. Use an old socket or cutoff extension in line with the wrench opening.

I don't know the particular spot you're in, but thinking . . . A crowfoot wouldn't work, would it? Might be easier to find.

Due to the lack of suppliers , I made
one to work on the bigger continentals . I
used a box wrench and some broken 1/2 in
extension parts.Done this way you can change
wrench sizes
Here is a pict of 2 store bought ones and
a custom made one.

OTC and Snap On quit making them. Not sure if John Deere has a longer one or not. Their 15/16 nozzle wrench JDE69C is only 6" long not a closed box end. The JDE69C costs about $38 guess you could cut it and weld more in making it longer? The one you are probably looking for is the OTC 10T3717 or Snap On B4203 that is 7 1/2" long. OTC also made one longer the 10T19263 is 10" long 15/16" also. Check with equipment dealers to see if they have any old special tools to sell. Last year there was several of those obstruction wrenches on ebay but I don't find any now like the ones in George's pics.

Maybe i dont know much,but someone please correct me if im wrong,(which i probably am) seems to me ratchet socket and extension would do the trick.I am new to older tractors.Never dealt with any extensive overhauls or repairs on my 450 farmall.Please tell me if im off base and why...PLEASE

Kevin, years ago cylinder head fasteners on some engines required retorque after warmup and sometimes after a certain number of hours under load.

The fasteners on the cylinder heads are under the rocker arms or other obstructions. To avoid removing the obstructions for retorquing and having to reset valve lash, etc, these extensions were used.

Look at George's pixs. The sq drive end and the box wrench end are the same off-set so the torque force is the same at the fastener as at the torque wrench (no leverage or off-set calculation required).

Most newer engine heads are torqued to a certain initial ft lb followed with final elasticity torque in degrees (I.E. turn the fastener an additional 30°, 60°, etc). No retorque is reqd.
