Hege Plot combine

I was on the road the other day in Alabama and met a man I thought was scrappin g a small pulltype combine. He told me it was a Hege Plot combine and he was saving it from a scrapper. I didnt get to speak to him long but he said he used one on his farm.


My question is what were these built for? Ive seen pull types bigger than this unit. Im looking for a pulltype now and thinking about looking for a Plot combine.

These combines were built for research work by universities, experimental farms etc. Apparently they are 100 % cleanout, very fast.

I have seen several HEGE plot combines in my area, all were self propelled models, powered by VW air cooled engines
