Help on snow blower?

I have an IH 706 & am wanting to get a used snow blower for it & would like some suggestions & recommendations on what make I should get. I have a 1/2 mile driveway & live in WY where the drifts are the main concern. Any help is appreciated.

Get a 2 stage for sure. That tractor should handle 7 feet quite nicely. Doesn't matter too much about the double auger.Most of them are good blowers. Schulte is excellent. Luck/now is a decent blower.Smythe looks well built. We have an older New Idea that works pretty good

Hydraulic discharge chute rotation is recommended. So is a cab on the tractor.
How slow is the reverse gear?
Fan dia and width is important. Often a snowblower is pushing snow with the auger because the fan can't blow it away fast enough.

2 stage 1 big single auger.Top auger will overload bottom auger in a double auger setup.We had a Bervac,Canadian built heavy duty.Had blower on IH 186 Hydro.186 is 100 pto hp.Just crawl need hydro in big drifts.706 will not be enough hp or go slow enough at times.

We have a couple of snow blowers. A double auger two stage Lucknow on a 1086 and this one on a 7120. I dont know how hard it would be to find a smaller one designed like this with the two bigs fans but it seems to take alot less power to run. It is made by Fair Mfg. A 706 with a seven foot blower will have a big load at times so if you can find anything that will give you an advantage it should help.

I'am not in disagreement with you Bill,but the FAIR takes all the power you can provide because of the dual fans will take all the snow going into them without slowing down.I have found that 250HP. wasn't enough at times.The Fair is not a good machine to be used in tight areas,a good two auger machine is far better.

There are 3 of those Lucknow blowers down here in this part of the world. Back about 1980 we had a couple of dandy winters and all kinds of blowers showed up and I ended up Lucknow 102" wide double auger model. Works nice but wont take near the snow the big Fair blower will. Looks like I will need to get them going in the morning. If I do I will try to get some pics. Bad way to start a new year!

Think I now remember now asking you the same question a year or two ago.You live in the corn belt and got whacked in the 1970's with unusually deep snow.
